Dana Tabbara
Dana Tabbara is a Child and Adolescent Psychologist, registered as a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society. She received her certification as a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) and has over three years of clinical experience working with children and adolescents. As a certified RBT, Dana uses Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methods, alongside mindfulness-based techniques to analyze children’s behavior, which evaluates how they communicate, play, learn and perform daily activities. She applies a multidisciplinary system to improve cognitive and social skills as well behavioral, interpersonal and emotional concerns, working alongside parents, teachers, caregivers, friends and any other related members.
Dana has worked with parents, children and adolescents with various neurodevelopmental disorders and delays including Autism, Down syndrome, ADHD and ADD, as well as learning difficulties, such as Dyslexia and Dyscalculia. Her services are provided in English, Arabic, French and Spanish. She uses standardized clinical assessments (such as VB-MAPP, Conners Assessment, Woodcock Johnson...), parent questionnaires and interviews to assess clients and set a program tailored to each individuals’ needs.
Dana believes in a mindful, accepting and supportive approach to mental health where clients feel safe and secure to be themselves without restraint. When working with children, she often integrates mindfulness-based techniques, which help children to become aware of their body movements, surrounding noises, reactions and emotions. Mindfulness allows the child to explore their surroundings by alternating their level of focus and attentiveness to a variety of experiences, external and internal. She prefers to carry out sessions in the child’s favorite area, such as the playground, swingset, or sandpit. Choosing a familiar environment helps to put the child at ease so that they can learn mindfulness techniques that will be relevant to their daily life.
She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and Masters of Sciences in Infancy and Early Childhood Development from the University College London (UCL). She is working towards receiving her certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy).
